Anguib Beach

white sand beach, secluded

According to the locals, Anguib Beach is the most beautiful beach in Sta. Ana, so it was definitely a must-see for us!  Another pride of San Vicente, it is a white sand beach with pristine blue waters. It is also considered as 'Boracay of the North.'

While on the boat going there, we saw beautiful corals peeking through the clear waters hence it is a great spot for scuba diving or snorkeling. Water sports like jet skiing and motor-boating are also some of the activities near the beach.

This is our third and last destination for the island hopping. Please check out our Palaui Island and Crocodile Island posts too!

A Sidetrip to Crocodile Island in Cagayan

Island camping

Island Camping

The Crocodile Island in the town of Sta.Ana, Cagayan derived its name from that large aquatic reptile that, they say, has the same formation as the island. So, it’s just the form of it, no actual crocodiles live here!

This is our second destination for the island hopping. Please check out our Palaui Island and Anguib Beach posts too!

Palaui Island

Whitesand Beach
Palaui Island is ranked 10th of CNN's Top 100 Best Beaches of the World.

Whitesand Beach

Luzon is the largest island in the country, and at the northeastern tip of that lies Palaui Island. It is located within the Babuyan Channel. The jump off is at San Vicente Port in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. Palaui has a stretch of 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) at its longest and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) at its widest. Due to its remote location, it also a home for 90 migratory birds.

The Cape Engano Lighthouse, a historic lighthouse that was built in 1888, is located at the northern point of Palaui. It provides a 360-degree view of the Babuyan and Dos Hermanas islands. To get the lighthouse, one can trek for 2-3 hours from Punta Verde or ask the boatman to take you directly at the foot of the hill where the lighthouse is located. Baratubut falls is also one of the attractions of Palaui. Ask your local guide to take you there as well.

Palaui was also the filming location for the two seasons of the reality TV show, 'Survivor' in 2013. It is definitely one of the unspoiled beaches in the country hence ranking it on the 10th spot for CNN's 100 Best Beaches of the World.

This is our first destination for the island hopping. Kindly check out our Crocodile Island and Anguib Beach posts too!

Bluewater Falls and Cave in Cagayan

Bluewater falls and Caves

Bluewater falls and Caves

The Bluewater Cave and Falls are located at the town of Baggao, which is a first class municipality in the province of Cagayan. This place has to be the most unbelievable place we've been so far. Unbelievable in a way that we've never imagined such a magnificent beauty of nature exists in this part of the country. It is located 62 kilometers north of Tuguegarao City. We were not surprised, though, how it has kept its raw beauty as it is within one of the most hidden places hence not much tourists visit this area. As of November 2014, we saw that there is an undergoing construction of roads leading to the Bluewater, making it more accessible for nature enthusiasts.

Imagine the view of endless waterfalls and the relaxing sound of the waters hitting the rocks, Bluewater is definitely one of the attractions you shouldn't miss when visiting Cagayan. The adventure starts with the 2-hour trek from Barangay Pallagao Bascag. One can also explore inside the cave, but with the help of your guides. Life vests are required as there are parts of the cave when you would need to dive in the cold waters just to get to the other side. Awesome crystal formations in the cave will also amaze you.
