Anguib Beach

According to the locals, Anguib Beach is the most beautiful beach in Sta. Ana, so it was definitely a must-see for us!  Another pride of San Vicente, it is a white sand beach with pristine blue waters. It is also considered as 'Boracay of the North.' 

While on the boat going there, we saw beautiful corals peeking through the clear waters hence it is a great spot for scuba diving or snorkeling. Water sports like jet skiing and motor-boating are also some of the activities near the beach.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Air - The fastest way to get to Cagayan is through a flight to Tuguegarao. Air travel takes only about an hour. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines have available flights going there.

From Tuguegarao Airport, get a tricycle and ask the driver to take you to the van terminal bound to Sta.Ana. The municipality of Sta. Ana is on the northeastern-most point of Luzon. Getting there is around 3 hours.

By Land - Air-conditioned buses of Victory Liner, Five Star, and Florida Transport have daily trips to Tuguegarao. Land travel usually takes around 10 hours hence these buses usually run night trips.

Trip schedules have changed due to some new policies of LTFRB and DOTC. In order to know the exact schedule of their trips, please contact the bus company directly. Contact information are provided below:

BACKPACKER'S PARADIGM

We decided to have Anguib Beach as our last destination for the island hopping since we would be spending the night here. Some tourists camp in Punta Verde in Palaui, but we were into a different kind of experience hence we chose Anguib as our campsite.

It was already around 4pm when we reached the beach. Not a great time for picture-taking because it was getting dark and the skies are cloudy.

 It rained a little, and suddenly a rainbow appeared and brightened up the day.

Anguib Beach is divided into two beaches. The fees also vary. The entrance fees are Php 100 ($3) and Php 20 ($0.50). We took the less expensive one and rented a small cottage for Php 350 ($8.50) a night. The rental of cottages on the other side of the beach starts at Php 1000 ($24). Pitching of tents is also allowed. You can ask the caretakers to provide you with an electricity supply as well. Or, to save some cash, bring your own power banks and headlamps.

Caution! Be very vigilant of the dogs on the camp site and don't leave your food and other important things unattended. Unfortunately, these dogs sneaked through our stuff while we were on the beach, and stole our food. They also took our cooking oil and dish washing soap. Be careful, they're not that picky!

Tip! Set up a bonfire near your tent or cottage to get rid of mosquitoes and other insects. There are lots of these on the campsite.

Anguib Beach is currently being developed by the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority, in cooperation with the Local Government of the town of Santa Ana, Cagayan. Although, if we were to decide, we wanted to leave the beach bare and almost raw, but the improvement of the place, especially with the facilities, can attract more visitors hence giving more sources of income for the locals.

Comparing the white sands of Anguib to Calaguas, the latter definitely has a finer texture. However, Anguib has a unique experience on its own. It offers a lovely kind of isolation from this tough world we're living in. We dare you to experience the same.

We are a group of 4 and here is a list of our expenses:

Php 300 - Tricycle from the airport to the van terminal (fare is only PHP 15 each, but we paid him this amount because we first went to the restaurant, then searched for the gas store, and finally to the terminal)

       350 ($8.50)- Cottage rental at Anguib Beach
    3,500 ($84)- Boat Rental for Island Hopping
         50 ($1.15)- Registration Fee at San Vicente
       250 ($6)- Food and water supplies
       400 ($10)- Van from Tuguegarao to Sta.Ana (roundtrip)
    2,000 ($48) - Plane ticket to Tuguegarao (roundtrip, discounted price due to a promo)

Please note that the budget isn't for Anguib Beach alone. For example, the boat rental is for three destinations. We have posted the other two, which are Crocodile Island and Palaui Island, on separate articles. Also, our budget for the food and water supplies is actually good for 2 days. Lastly, the plane ticket is for our whole exploration of Cagayan.
